Research and training through research

The joint means of the CNFM are mainly designed and used for initial training and continuing education and training programs. In compliance with its missions, the means of the CNFM are also used as technical support of the works in the research laboratories. The users are mainly doctoral candidates. Use of the means by researchers and doctoral candidate is especially important in design where sharing of the software means between different types of users does not present any difficulty.

Some 500 to 600 researchers and doctoral candidates belong to approximately 70 laboratories using the common means of the CNFM each year.

Innovation

In accordance with its priorities and conditions of use of its means, the CNFM provides technical support to companies. This cooperation can take very different forms. In certain cases the CNFM clusters can accommodate the staff of the companies in order to use the operational means; in other cases, the works are ordered by the companies.

More specifically, the activity concerns the technology for which the university means offer an rare flexibility of use. Each year, approximately 40 companies call on the technical support of the CNFM network.
